Ésta es de esas cosas que piensas que son broma, pero realmente son en serio (ver caso anterior), esta vez es un modelo de carro de Mazda que, créanlo o no, se llama “Laputa”:

Me pregunto si la gente de PR de Mazda no hace una pequeña investigación de lo que sus nombres pueden significar en diferentes idiomas. Recuerdo hace algunos años ver el que Tracker de Susuki en no se que país se llamaba “Pajero”. Ustedes dirán.
Aunque sea acertaron en una cosa: el carro es tan feo como su nombre.

En inicios de los noventa salió un anime que se llamó Laputa.
Q: What does “Laputa” mean?
“Laputa” is a floating island in Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels”, though according to Pazu, Swift’s Laputa “is just a story in a book”, and his Laputa is for real. In Swift’s novel, Laputans are a people who literally have their “heads in the clouds”.
At first, Miyazaki wanted to make a film about a “flying Treasure Island”, and he borrowed the name “Laputa” from Swift’s book. He probably shouldn’t have. “Laputa” is actually a (really) bad word in Spanish. It means “prostitute” (or worse - it’s really indecent, so we can’t tell you), and Swift apparently knew this when he named the island. It is not clear whether Miyazaki knew the origin of this word or not, but he could’ve avoided the problem only if he’d stuck to his original plan of spelling it as “Raputa” (the Japanese language doesn’t differentiate between L and R). Now, with Disney acquiring the global distribution rights for it, we are wondering how Disney is going to market it in Spanish-speaking countries (including the US). Laputa es uno de los lugares de los cuentos de Gulliver (de Jonhatan Swift) como Lilliput. Ese sí que lo conocemos.
Me acuerdo que en Fantabaires anunciaron que iban a pasar Laputa y la sala se llenó y pasó un rato y muchos se fueron, desilusionados. La película de Miyazaki es hermosísima.
Pero aparte de eso, estoy de acuerdo en que tendrían que hacer un estudio, porque ya sabemos que esto es para venderse a nivel mundial.
Te cuento que también tienen uno que se llama Moco. Y fijate los slogans(http://www.irenefernandez.com.ar/badd/archives/000052.html).
La version para occidente de la Mitsubishi Montero era la llamada Pajero. Aqui en Rep. Dominicana el distribuidor exclusivo trae (por razones obvias) la Montero.
Viva La Puta! (o mejor dicho la version de Mazda del Ford Escape) Este es el carro perfecto para el bromista promedio. Imaginen el tipo de respuesta cuando te pregunten que tipo de vehiculo manejas si llegaras a tener uno de ellos. diria que simplemente manejo La Puta ;)
